Ammonium sulphate (amsul) prices are edging higher in Asia, as steady demand in Indonesia and South Korea continues for frst-quarter delivery. High prices in the Chinese domestic urea market are encouraging buyers to look at amsul as a cheaper short-term alternative. Turkish and Brazilian demand has been slow to emerge since the Christmas break and the next round of spot buying looks likely to be delayed until late-January. China Spot prices for Chinese capro-grade amsul are frming to $112-118/t fob for January and February shipment. A Brazilian buyer is inquiring for a total of 100,000t, combining MAP, granular amsul and capro amsul, all for February shipment. Freight China to Brazil is $19-20/t for a 50,000t cargo for delivery to one port. Stocks of amsul are steady with around 120,000t in ports across China. South Korea A vessel is being loaded in Ulsan, South Korea for Turkey with an average price of $144.20/t cfr duty paid. Freight from South Korea to Turkey is estimated in the high-$20s/t. In the freight market, an inquiry for 20,000-25,000t is circulating from Ulsan to Vizag, India, for 21-31 January shipment. indonesia Petrokimia Gresik is understood to be inquiring for up to fve vessels, for shipment in the frst quarter. uS US amsul in understood to be on offer at $132/t cfr with credit for delivery to Turkey, with Ukraine or Morocco also under discussion as a fnal destination. turkey Black Sea amsul is on offer at $162/t cfr for prompt shipment. Freight from the Black Sea to Turkish southern ports is put in the mid-$20s/t. nW europe Northwest Europe producers are reporting heavy order books for Europe and Brazil in January and February but few new inquiries have emerged so far this year. Prices are stable at $130-140/t fob for standard grade and $160-170/t fob for granular. Brazil Ammonium sulphate prices for January loading are stable on a lack of new shipments.
